New Authors can display their unpublished work on our web site to help present their work to people who can make decisions about publishing. New writers need exposure and the web can certainly help. Writers from all over the world can display their work on our web site. Getting published is tough – as any published author can tell you – but hopefully displaying your new unpublished work on this web site will help you find a publisher.
The easiest way to submit your work is to use the online submission form below. All submissions need to be a sample of a complete work. Please limit your submission to a total of 2000 words. We would suggest that you use the first 200 words as a synopsis and the rest for a sample of the complete work. This sample does not need to be the first chapter but it should be consistent with the style of the complete work. Work that contains offensive material will not be published. Your work will be displayed for 3 months and will then be deleted unless we receive confirmation that you wish the work to continue to be displayed.
Your submission needs to arouse the readers interest so make sure your work is well presented. Spelling mistakes or grammatical errors means the publisher (or agent) will quickly move on to the next item in the ‘slush-pile’. Include anything in your synopsis that may help an agent or publisher to decide to continue looking at your work; previous writing success or experience, work published, expected market, length of complete work, etc.
Don’t rely on this web site alone – it should only be a small part of your total campaign to get published. You should still continue to send your work to publishers and agents in the normal way. Copies of Writers and Artists Year Book and The Writers Handbook are very helpful for authors since they list agents and publishers with a short description of the type of work they are interested in reading.
Getting published is a long process that takes time and effort so please be patient with the response to your work. Remember that you only need a single publisher so one quality response is better than a vast quantity of dubious use.
No one can promise to make your work successful. It is also worth noting that most published work is not a huge success and may even only sell a few copies. But at least your work stands a better chance of being read if you continue to seek to be successful and for those few who do succeed the rewards are tremendous.
There is a nominal charge of £2 per month
to display your work on the Showcase
of Unpublished New Writing.
Your work will be automatically deleted
when you stop the subscription payments.
Good luck with finding a publisher!
